Appalachian Blackberry blossoms. Photo by Bruce Stambaugh
On a recent day hike on the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park, I came upon these lovely flowers. They are the blooms that, in a month or so, will turn into Appalachian Blackberries. With all the birds and black bears around, they likely won’t last long.
I am a writer, author, photographer, birder, walker, hiker, husband, father, grandfather, brother, Anabaptist, and community activist. My life is crammed with all things people and nature and wonder. My late father gave me this penchant for giving and getting the most out of life, my late mother the courtesy, kindness, and creativity to see the joy in life. They both taught me to cherish the people I am with. I try and fail and try again.

Thanks for checking on me, Ann. Fortunately, I received some excellent news from a highly regarded neurosurgeon. He did refer me to another specialist as a precaution. So, all is well with Neva and me.
