Hanging Out

This pair of squirrels was just hanging out in our front yard on a warm spring day recently. While one chowed down on breakfast from a birdfeeder, the other basked in the morning sunshine.

I am a writer, author, photographer, birder, walker, hiker, husband, father, grandfather, brother, Anabaptist, and community activist. My life is crammed with all things people and nature and wonder. My late father gave me this penchant for giving and getting the most out of life, my late mother the courtesy, kindness, and creativity to see the joy in life. They both taught me to cherish the people I am with. I try and fail and try again.

  1. “Hanging out”?? He thinks we’re just hanging out? How does HE deal with the 4-legged hairy monsters that slink around the neighborhood? and scare us out of our wits with their blaring warnings at us just because we’re looking for a safe place to honker down and munch on what the messy birds just fling about as they’re hogging all the food?? Does HE have somebody scaring the tar out of him every time he spots what he thinks is a great-looking cafe’ for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a well-deserved Dairy Queen??? SCHEESH – the things we have to deal with right where we live!
