Nothing says summer like children fishing on a sultry August morning. These three youngsters enjoyed a time away from farm chores to make a few casts into the pond in front of their home.
The boy reeled in his line quickly like he had caught something. A closer look (please click on the photo) shows that he has a wry smirk on his face, and for good reason. He caught a weed, which you can see flying at the end of his line.
I am a writer, author, photographer, birder, walker, hiker, husband, father, grandfather, brother, Anabaptist, and community activist. My life is crammed with all things people and nature and wonder. My late father gave me this penchant for giving and getting the most out of life, my late mother the courtesy, kindness, and creativity to see the joy in life. They both taught me to cherish the people I am with. I try and fail and try again.

Wonderful moment, and capture on your part! I love their clothing and have captured a few like shots in PA Dutch Country. Yesterday I saw some girls in dresses playing beside a lake and then they walked down, got on their quad and drove away. It was unexpected! I don’t know the ‘rules’ … would that mean that they were likely Mennonite? One girl had no bonnet and the other a white hankie hanging from her bun.
Thanks, Denise. From your description, I would say that those girls were likely Conservative Mennonites or an associated group. Were the dresses solid pastel colors or patterned fabric?
Such a lovely composition.

I think there was a pattern.

Then they likely were members of a Conservative Mennonite sect or some other group like German Baptists.
