The phrase, “Variety is the spice of life,” is attributed to William Cowper. He included it in a poem he wrote in 1785. However, that phrase was only the first part of the line.
The complete line of the poem reads:
“Variety’s the spice of life,
That gives it all its flavor.”
Apparently, this household likes vanilla.
