The Bush Pilot

While returning from an exhilarating trip to the Knik Glacier, a bush pilot flew low over our boat in the Knik River. The pilot was shuttling tourists like us for flyovers of the glacier and surrounding mountainous areas.

“The Bush Pilot” is my Photo of the Week.

  1. Have visited Alaska twice … interesting fact: 1 in 4 adults in AK have a pilot’s license. Visited the Knik … interesting fact: most Alaskans swim indoors because the snow and ice melt off during the brief summer leaves the water too cold to tolerate in most rivers and lakes. Love those beautiful mountains!

    1. Thanks, Linda. Everywhere we went in AK, the ratio of people to pilots varied. That’s why I didn’t include it. I’m not sure which one is correct. I also heard that there are 240 towns in AK and 400 airports, not counting the waterways. Bruce
